Phillipians 3:8 KJV Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
Philippians 3:8 NLT Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ
Jeremiah 9:23 This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches,
John 17 :3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
All degrees of joy reside in the heart. How can a Christian be full of happiness (if happiness depends on the things that happen) when he is in a world where the devil is doing his best to twist souls away from God, where people are tortured physically, where some are downtrodden and do not get a chance? It would be the outcome of the most miserable selfishness to be happy under such conditions. But a joyful heart is never an insult, and joy is never touched by external conditions.
The Bible talks plentifully about joy, but it nowhere speaks about a “happy” Christian. Happiness depends on what happens; joy does not. Remember, Jesus Christ had joy, and He prays “that they might have My joy fulfilled in themselves.”
Have you ever heard a Christian friend confide in you that they never have any happiness or joy in their life’s. If you were in the world and didn’t know Jesus you would experience moments of happiness, but never joy.
Big difference between joy and happiness. You see happiness is something that is external otherwise the Yankees just won the world series or I got this great deal on a new pair of heals (ladies) I know because my wife showed me some she got yesterday and she was as happy about them as I would be about the Yankees winning the world series . Both are momentary there is nothing lasting about it. Something bad comes along or difficult and immediately the happiness or some call joy is gone. Left empty and broken-hearted with nothing to fulfill that hurt or disappointment.
So lets see whats in the fridge. Maybe a new dress. Maybe go look at some porn. I know that’s hard, forgive me though it is true both men, women and our children today do this even some of our pastors. Lets be real here. My point is to remind me and whoever reads this that there is something else we can turn to.
You see the truth is that Jesus is the only person that can bring you joy in your life. Joy that is everlasting. Joy that comes in the morning after a bad situation from the day before or something that is out of your control or ability to change lets say. Joy in all things good or bad.
Jesus gives this to us. Joy is strength to get through, strength to stand in the face of pain and adversity, joy to continue to believe when everything around you hurts or is unbelievable. Joy that’s not based on circumstances or what the world is doing or is going to do. What someone said that hurt so bad.
Listen to what I am saying here please. I implore you to think about what brother Paul and the rest of these good folks back in the day’s of old have shared with us. God sent his son that you would have a way to make it through this old world filled with pain and suffering.
I am not saying life will quit hurting you or you won’t experience pain and suffering or disappointment. What I am telling you is you will have God the Father, His Son Jesus and the Great Comforter the Holy Spirit all standing with you, when you are going through these things.
They are your joy, your strength , your conquer , your deliverer, your anchor in life’s storms. Religion is man made. It depends upon living out God’s law to the Tee, like the Saudducee and Pharisess of old and some saints are stilling trying to do today. Empty stuff it will never get you through it will only show you how sinful you really are nothing but pure dung. It will never point you to the Saivor Jesus Christ. The one who came to fill the gap, the chasm you can’t get across , to make it possible for you to reach the unreachable .
Jesus is the way. All we have to do is trust in him and go to him with our burdens. Read his Holy word and spend time with him. God will do the rest in you. Practice listening to God. Serving God is not difficult. The world and religion has made it that way. Jesus has already done the work. Be free to live in Jesus. Let the Holy Spirit do the work in you trust him. The rest of it is all dung. I didn’t say that. Gods word said it, read it above remember.
Much Love Tom
